Book update

The book is coming along great. I was able to set quite abit of time aside today to work on it and I can say that I am steaming through the chapters.

I have now come up with the idea for the front cover, so all I have to do is make it.

Apart from that the projects are all running along smoothly. At the moment I am just completing the custom help manual's for each website.

So any time now.

Tour being built

Since there is so much interest in the WebFast Content Management System version 2.0 which we have built.

It has prompted me to build a tour, which can be emailed to customers so they can see for themselves what a great application it is.

I'm surfing the net at the moment looking for "cms tours" and there really isn't anything that stands out but i'll keep looking.

I am also packaging the CMS with our large hosting package.

This will be something that will be featured on the tour.

So of I go to program this tour. The faster it is done the sooner I can pick up some more clients.

The book

A quick up date on "the book". It now does have a title! I came up with it over while I was writing a chapter yesterday.

I won't tell you the name but it has changed the whole book. The title is and will turn into a new method for webmasters to gain success.

Sony Digital Cameras & Camcorders Special Offers

Of course this has now slowed the process down as I will have to re-work some of the chapters.

So I'll let you know when its all up and running.

Projects Projects Projects

Well i have had projects finishing, and projects starting. I just picked up another on on the Rent-a-Site solution.

So this means I have to get stuck into it. As most of you would know I am also moving so there is just so much going on...

The writing of my book has also started. There is no set time of completion but I am putting in the hours so I hope to be able to get something complete and finished in the next few months.

Module finished

I have just now finished the blogging module for WebFast version 2.0. The last part which was the archiving system was not as difficult as I thought it would have been.

So with half a day left I should be able to get most of my clients websites up and running by early tomorrow. That means I might not even have to put in extra work tonight.

There has already been some initial work done on version 3.0 of WebFast. There is no release date as this is going to have all modules included in it. So there is some development that needs to be done.

It is my aim to have all websites running the WebFast content management system.

Anyway I will have more on the workings of WebFast and its codeing later on.

WebFast undergoing additions

With the recent surge in usage of our content management system, there have been some new modules which have had to be created.

The main one has been the "blog" system which I am still working on. I hope to have it finished tonight, so I can implement it into the websites that require it.

On another note I am still to update all the websites that are currently running the WebFast system. As you may or may not know it has a new wysiwyg editor so there those already running it don't have the updated code.

That is a task for next week.

Basically all the websites that I have been talking about will be up and running by the end of next week. So that is something to look forward to. However it does mean that this weekend will be full of programming. The more I can get done this weekend the easier next weekend will be when I go through and upload them all.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Going mobile

When I look back at what I have achieved today, I start to wonder if I have wasted too much time.

So far I have spent my date setting up my notebook so that I could further develop WebFast. One of the problems I had straight away was that the wysiwyg editor which is used wouldn't work.

What works on Linux doesn't work on Windows. Lovely! Anyway so at the moment I am working through that problem.

I have set up a webserver which can run PHP, mySQL cause as you know that is what I develop in.

I can't seem to work it out so I'm trying a few options. I had hoped to be able to start work on the blog module. I can't really start that until I have this fixed so I can see I will have to work this weekend.

WebFast version 2.0 is now running a new wysiwyg editor. This one is faster to load as it is completely developed out of Javascript. There are some new modules I need to make, for instance some kind of file manager since the last wysiwyg editor had one built in.

Site Review Launched

Today i have launched a new blog called "Site Review". Over the three years that I have been running this company I have come across so many websites on the internet that just wouldn't display correctly or the whole design was just lacking.

The websites which I review will be picked at random. You can submitt websites to be reviewed if you would like.

Site Review can be found here (sitereivew.blogspot.com).

On another note I have done the implementation of our CMS into two sites today. That leaves me with two sites waiting for content. One site waiting for a mySQL database and two sites waiting to be uploaded.

So hopefully they will be done by the end of the week.

CSS rounded corners

Since I go the go ahead for the Wilderness Island website today, I had to start developing it.

Anyway I had to used rounded corners on divs for this particular layout. I haven't quite dont it correctly but by doing it the way which I have it reduces any problems with cross browser compatability.

The design is complete now so on Monday I'll be uploading it and implementing the content management system.

Next week will be full of implementing the content management system into websites. I think I have about 5 to do.

So until then!

Custom Manuals

You may remember one of the advantages of our content management system is that we provide our users with a custom maintenance manual.

Since the increased usage of the system there has been a back log of these manuals so today I have created 4 of them. Tomorrow I should be able to finish the manuals off for the rest of the clients.

That means with in no time all of our websites that we have created can be up and running very very soon.
